"If Josh were a gift..."

So Jesse and I just got back from a birthday party of a girl who attends our school!
I'm not gonna lie, I don't really know her, but she told Jesse that he could take friends, so it was all good! So we took off from the school, confident about our supposedly 20 minute trip with directions from google maps guiding our way!
We seemed to be doing pretty well until we noticed 3 of the streets, that the map said we were supposed to turn on, fly past!
We were a little worried about this because we did not turn, but apparently we were still on track!
This went on for a while until we realized that we could not afford to be lost (gas prices and all)! Jesse called the house of the 'aged' and asked her how he could get there from where we are. She then preceded to give the phone to her little sister (who Jesse thought was her mother) and she gave us the right directions (The google map was right! It was just taking us all the way around the city as opposed to right through it and to it. Which is typically the way I like things done.).
So we get to the house and Jesse and I are the only ones from the school! There were a decent amount of people, most of which looked like sophomores in high-school. So we found the people at the party closest to our age and ate a delicious array of assorted food with them! Not gonna lie, the food at the party compared to our lunch, felt like we just returned to the holy land after being in Somalia after their civil war. If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch Black Hawk Down and you'll be right back on track with me. I'm not trying to be dramatic or anything! It's just the way it was. Anyway, after we ate, the group of us then proceeded to the Billiard hall which was really just a small room with a pool table in it, and began to "chill" while drinking Canada Dry. Over all, I'd say our night went pretty well! Despite the initial awkwardness of being at another high-school party.
P.S. There is a guy sitting next to me eating a bowl of Pops. I'm jealous.

Hardcore

Chris and i were on our way to the guard shack to get some ping-pong paddles when all of the sudden (you'd think this bible college would be a safer place or be mutant free at the least...) a giant squirl jumped out of the bushes with a militia of radio active rodents! Chris gasped in astonishment as one spoke out (you'd think the giant squirl would be enough to make Chris yell, but he's seen some pretty insane crap in his life.) and said, 'grab your paddle and do a silly dance for me!' so chris picked up his paddle and danced the best jig that squirrel had ever seen! The squirel then died of over amazement! and we got our paddles. The radio active rodents did not know what to do, so one, being smart, decided to invest and become a plumber. the rest followed in his example. Charlie (one of the genetically enhanced mice) is now my insurance consultant.

'what would you call Richard Dawkins?' '...if you want to be biblical call him a fool."

So i was walking to class the other day and out of nowhere, this giant dog/fish crawls out of the middle of the street and says to me, 'Josh! Bow down and worship my fins in all of their majesty!' and i was just like, 'i don't mean to be disrespectfull, but shut up giant talking dog/fish! The only one i worship created you!' and he was like all, 'oh! Are you talking about God! We go way back!' so we swam laps together on tuesday. Mat was there too.

Acts: part 2

So last week, after acts, i felt so inspired to run out of the room and jump off a balcony into a tree! I've yet to decide if Acts class is good for me... We'll see what today's class yields for my life.

In the coffee shop...

First official open mic night!

A Poem: By Josh Rickett

There used to be a squid at the bottom of the sea.
His name was Henry and he said he was happy.
Henry swam around with his eyes to the ground,
but still said he was great!
When in reality, everybody could see that Henry's
'Great' is as love is to hate.
Well one faithful friend who had come around
from the bend swam up to Henry to speak!
He said "Henry, I'm moving into a new anemone
and I need my fridge moved, but I'm too weak!"
Henry looked up to his friend and was glad to help,
So they went to see the new anemone.
The faithful friend then asked Henry to see if he
really was as happy as he said he was to be.
Henry then reluctantly replied
that he was struggling between truth and lies!
Henry said "How can God be real when all
I see is evil on every foot's heal?
Everybody says 'God is my god
and I serve him well!' but then they live
their lives in a way deserving of hell!
I just can't understand how Jesus would
stand to see everything and still want me.
If He were real, he'd tell me and we wouldn't
live our lives in sin so freely."
"A lot of people live and say that they know God!"
Said Henry's friend
"But live hypocritically and expect to see
everything the way God intended it to be!
God didn't create us to be absent from Him,
but as sinners, we choose to be 'free' from discipline.
This is our flesh that draws us away,
but if we pray for God to guide us,
In God we will stay!
If you ask God to reveal Himself to you,
I know that He is faithful, and He will see you through!"
Henry's faithful friend spoke these words with joy,
Reminding Henry that God is real
and He loves every girl and every boy.
Live faithfully unto God, and He will be faithful unto you,
Love Him with your whole heart and He will see you through.
Henry now knew what was right,
And he would live for it forever and hold onto it tight.
Henry's faithful friend turned out to be faithful in the end.

Ocean Hills!

first time to church in a while! I feel like the prodigal!

Doughnut hunting!

Last night?

After our Downtown excursion, we decided to leave the magical shopping area and find a place close to church (Ocean Hills) to sleep! We looked around for a bit but couldn't seem to find a beach of any sort! So we asked some locals who pointed us in the direction of Dana Point! So we headed straight to it! We found the parking lot and there were lots of cars in it already, as well as some toll boxes which we checked because we didn't want to pay. We unloaded our stuff and headed down. Walking down the beach was super nice! I had thought the weather was going to be cold but it was actually quite nice! Well played chap! Anyway, we set up camp near some cliffs, away from the traffic and changed into our swimming attire. And we ran freely about the water. So Devan, Chris and I decided to go to sleep and Jesse and Oct went to pray. At about 1:00, we had all fallen asleep and a bright light
beamed in our faces. Devan woke up and asked me what is was, so i stared for about 15 seconds and told him that it was a car. At which point, bot being so out of it, we rolled back over and went to sleep. Well, I guess the driver expected a different reaction and I think he got it when he yelled "You guys can't be on the beach!" We were kind of startled at it, so we got up and started packing up our stuff. Jesse and Mat were still off somewhere praying so we had to pick up their stuff. Somewhere around this point, we realized it was a cop shining his spotlight down on us, and he began to ask us more questions, yelling across the gap (he was on a road right above the beach about 6 yards up). He asked our age and Devan yelled back, "18! I kinda just asked the cop what he said! I completely heard what he had said! I just wanted him to repeat it! I figured if he asked again sternly, we were in a lot of trouble, but he didn't and I felt better about the situation. So as soon as we had everything up, and we started walking away. He then yelled for us to come up to him, and we slowly staggered up a wall of rocks trying to get to the road with all of our belongings and half asleep. We made to the top maybe after a minute of awkward silence, the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks was nice! So we got up and he asked us where we were from, and I we replied back New Mexico. He slightly put off at this! I'm guessing he was expecting us to throw out some lie and us to be all sketchy about it, but I guess he figured we were to out of it to come up with a lie like New Mexico. So he asked us questions like "How'd you find out about this beach?" and "Why are you in California?" and "What's your sign?". Well, maybe not that last one, but he told us that it was illegal to be on that beach after 12 am for a few different reasons. After he knew we were foreigners, he was extremely kind and informative. He then told us that he was only going to let us off with a warning as opposed to the $30 fine it would've been for being on the beach after hours. We were extremely appreciative of this, being that we all have No money for... anything! Jesse and Mat were still gone at this point, we had absolutely no idea where they were, or if they were even alive! The cop told us we had to leave and asked us if we wanted a ride back up to the car! As I was thinking about it, Devan immediately say's "No thank you! Were good!"
He was a little worried about riding in the back of a uriney cop car. But we had a pretty decent hill to walk up. Chris and I were kindof sad about that.
So we get to the car, still having no idea where Jesse and Mat are, and we had to wait there and hope that they were going back to our camp site to see that we were gone! After about half an hour of waiting in the parkinglot, we finally see them! So we piled in the car and took off to find internet.
We found an "It's a Grind" with free internet and we pulled over to see where we needed to go! We decided that we were just going to go to the church and sleep in the grass and wake up and go to church in the morning! The place we were at was right next to where Levi's old place when he lived in Cali. so we didn't have far to go. We found the church and looked for grass. We found (as illustrated in the picture above) a nice patch of grass behind the church and spread out blankets and slept, eagerly awaiting our next day of adventure.

Metal Monday! ...it's tuesday.

So Chris and I went to our local guitar center to pick up some strings! My G snapped yesterday when i was playing in my room. So i wasn't able to play with my guitar during our auditions for Worship Band today. Sad. But It's all good. I used Chris'. I finally snapped that i'm not in Albuquerque anymore! When i was at Guitar Center, the guy was taking my name and asked me how to spell 'Romero.' i'm not gonna lie, i kinda thought he was kidding at first! But you know, it is how it is.

Breakfast Of Champions

So this whole past week has gone by pretty slow. I'm not gonna lie, i'm kinda tired of it. I'm over this place! I wanna go home!! Well not really. I am excited for school to start! We have one of our block classes tomorrow and i have Worship Band! I'm really stoked to see what that's all about! And i love my CM199! I bake so many ridiculously amazing things all the time! So, yeah. I don't care so much for the hours. 6-2:30. Gross. But i'm young. I'll get over it.
