Love146: Round Home Update!

These words are from the co-founder of Love146, Desirea
on the opening of the new round home!

"I’ve sat for two days (in between emails, deadlines, editing, low hums of needs to be met) with no words.
7 girls will be coming home on April 28th more will be added soon.
The first Love146 safehome we have built from the ground up.
I am a co-founder, I remember the beginning of our story but our story has grown to more people,
to part of a raging movement, to thousands of children.
And now 7 girls are coming home to something we (us + you = we) have built.
I have no words. I have cried and laughed. But no words.
It’s time to celebrate! To jump, to dance, to scream like you’re at a rock concert...

Abolition is happening."

Continue to pray that the work progresses
and that these children will be brought to
a safe home where they can be shown love.

Flying to the moon

Mat, Jesse, and I were looking at a tree
(This is something we try and do once a week.
We pick out one tree on campus and look at it)
and we noticed that the one we were looking at would be
excellent for a giant swing!
Our minds were racing to the thoughts of amazing times
we had had on that swing, memories that could never be forgotten
as we swung rapidly over the lake close by.
Then we remembered that none of that had actually happened...
So determined to make our dreams a reality we set out to Lowe's
where we purchased a circular piece of wood and a lot more rope than necessary.
After a good amount of time trying to drill holes through
we departed for our beloved tree.
But before we got there,

Mat's jeep exploded and flew into a gully.
Luckily we had our rope swing and we were able to
climb up the treacherous face of the cavern.

We had lost hope at one point but had remembered
our reason for setting out.
Our tree.

Our memories of that tree kept us going.
We so long for our dreams of swinging over the Leviathan
to come to fruition.

Gully: 01
Men of Passion: 06

When we made our way back to our tree
we figured that people would most likely
not like the location of our swing over the lake.
So we settle for one over a parking lot.

The quest to climb this tree was a difficult one.
Blood and tears were shed over the roots as we
reached for our dreams, branch by branch.
There's Mat's jeep.

Because of the amount of rope we had,
it was fairly difficult to tie off in a safe way.
So as we swung hundreds of feet over the malleable concrete
our lives depended on this one stick we found on a termite mound.

As we were ready to embark in the beauty of
our injudicious pie in the sky...

Security came and said
"Uh, yeah. There's no swinging on campus."

The other day, a giant kidney came up to Chris Patterson and I and challenged us to a dance off. My leg was injured the night before by a stegasaurous that we were trying to ride, so needless to say, my dance would have been a bit off. But Chris and I decided that since it was only a kidney it wouldn't have much to offer in the dance department.

We were so wrong.

This kidney had a lot of fight in it! Chris and it danced from 3:53pm to 9:47pm in a constant fury of rhythm and movement. They both began to omit waves of rhythm from their bodies filled with vibrant colors, such as yellow. It was one of the most beautiful things i've seen in my life!

So close to 10 they began to realize that neither of them were going to give up, and the kidney had an appointment at 3 in Cambodia. So they had to call it off as a draw. But they promised to one day dance again for the sake of the sport some time later in life. I only hope you are as fortunate as I when that day comes. Be ready.

Jesse's Best Birthday Bash! ...Because.

It was Jesse's burfday the other day, so we did what any poor college students
would do on a friends birthday!

Maybe this isn't what normal college students would do.
But I did mention that it was Jesse's birthday.

Es que Normal?

Chris...

I don't know how much I can say about this...

This is Chris.
He's on his way to get
some ice cream.
